George Jones Majolica compote which features two buffalo (American bison), one stood on one side and one recumbent on the other. A prairie dog stood upright on it's hind legs. All sit underneath a tree, which forms the bowl of the piece. Lightly impressed, 'AMERICA' to the side of the foot. Colouration: green, brown, turquoise, are predominant. This piece represents the continent of America. It is one of a set of compotes by George Jones in the 'Continents’ series.. English diamond registration mark for the date 16/02/1872.
