An elabourate and intricately detailed meandering floral border. Colours gold, green, dark brown, silver, pink and blue. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-11. Verse reads, 'All you my friends who now expect to see, A piece of work which is perfom'd by me, Cast but a smile on this my mean endeavour, I'll strive to mend and be obedient ever, I'd have you all both young and old, To love your Parents more than gold.'. Signed and dated 'Elizabeth Fisher Aged 10 Years 1823'. The sampler features the distinctive Norfolk regional characteristics: a stepped lozenge with shaped sides and a thick meandering vine border that has finely detailed small leaves and flowers. A scattering of motifs, including potted flowering plants, stars, birds, flowers and lions. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with brown paper and sealed with tape.
