Colours pink, red, green, dark brown, copper, black and yellow. Verse reads, 'The sweet look of kindness. The peace speaking tongue, So pleasant and lovely. In old or in young. Will win the affections. Of all that you see, And make you still dearer. To mother and me. But oh if divided. By distance or death, how sore would it grieve you. Till lifes latest. That anger or discord. Should ever have been, Or aught but affection. Two sisters between.'. Signed Lucy Caroline German finished this in the 11th year of her Age Croyden Surrey'. Place name Croyden is a town in the South of England. A wonderful set of motifs, including an unusual number of birds, a country house, trees, some laden with fruit, a church and potted flowering plants. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is fixed to card. Frame backed with wood and sealed with tape.
