Colours black, red, yellow, copper, white, pink, blue and green. Verse reads, 'My soul before thy MAKER bow > His wondrous works admire > Till revrence and religious awe > Thine inmost thoughts inspire > Without reserve to him submit > All his commands fulfil > Acknowledge all his actions fit > Nor ere oppose his will'. Signed and dated 'Isabella Atkinson Aged 9 Years Her Work 1817'. A wonderful set of motifs including a house with a garden leading to a church. Animals on the grass. Blossoming trees, birds, potted flowering plants, fruit baskets and butterflies. Framed in an old 'molded composition over wood' frame with glass. Mounting: The sampler is tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with wood and sealed with tape.
