Verses read, 'Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand> As the first effect of an Enfants hand> And while her fingers on the canvas move> Ingage her tender thoughts to seek thy love> And with thy dear children let her have a part> And write thy name thy self upon her heart'. And, 'No minutes surely bring more content> Than those in pleasing useful studies spent'. Signed and dated, 'Frances Spriggs her work June the 1 1805'. A wonderful set of motifs, some finely detailed, including a house with a garden, birds, potted flowering plants, stags, fruit baskets, fir trees, sheep and dogs. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Stitched to linen.
