1821 Colourful Sampler by HW aged 14.

George IV, dated 1821. 11ins by 16ins. 1821 Colourful Sampler by HW aged 14.

Framed in an old, possibly original, wooden frame with glass.

Loose mounted onto a linen backing.

The sampler has family initials MM, JW, JS and HW.

Signed with initials and dated "HW Aged 14 1821".

Meandering, floral border and divider lines in a number of patterns.

The sampler is worked in fine wool threads throughout.

Red, yellow, green, light brown, orange, pink colour threads used.

A good set of motifs, including peacocks,

birds,

fir trees, fruit baskets

and flowers.

CONDTION: Good.

No holes. No stains.

A few stitch losses to the border and divider lines, illustrated.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticable fading.

No colour run. No stretching.

The frame has some wear, illustrated,

but is structurally sound.
