MOVE TO:
19thC Silk on Paper Alphabet Sampler.
Victorian, circa 1860. 7.25ins by 5.5ins. 19thC Silk on Paper Alphabet Sampler.
Framed in an old, possibly original, wooden frame with rippled, old glass. Loose with no backing.
The sampler has alphabets A-Z in uppercase and lower case with numbers 1-0.
Signed "Elizabeth Matthews aged 7 years".
Zig zag border.
The sampler is worked in fine silk threads throughout.
Gold and green colour threads used.
CONDTION: Very Good.
No holes. No stains. No stitch losses.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticable fading.
The silks still have their original bright glossy sheen.
No colour run.
The frame has a lot of wear and chips, illustrated,
but is structurally sound.
