MOVE TO:
c1840 Mini Sampler by Eliza Brownegg
Victorian, circa 1840. 7ins in height, 5ins wide. Unframed with no glass backing.
The sampler has alphabets A-Z in uppercase. Also the initials 'AP'.
Worked in cross stitch throughout. Signed ''Eliza Brownegg' but she ran out of space, so had to fit in the last few letters above and below! Simple line border and a divider line. The sampler is worked in cotton thread. Blue, cream, yellow, green, light brown, green and red colour threads used. A couple of traditional motifs including basket of flowers, fruit basket and a heart. A lovely example of a very simple and naïve child's sampler.
CONDTION: Good. No holes. One stain around the letter 'K'.
Some stitch losses to the bottom blue border and to the letter 'P' in the initials 'AP'.
Colours are all good and strong with little fading. No colour run.
