Detailed description and pictorial study of Sampler

MOVE TO:

19thC Band Sampler.

Victorian, circa 1850. 6.25ins by 19.25ins. 19thC Band Sampler.

Framed in a modern wooden frame with rippled, old glass. Stitched onto cardboard backing.

The sampler has alphabets A-Z in uppercase and numbers 1-13.

Rolling waves border and divider lines in a number of intricate patterns.

The sampler is worked in silk threads throughout.

Blue, dark brown, silver, pink, gold and green colour threads used.

A scattering of motifs, including birds, griffens,

potted plants and urns .

CONDTION: Good.

No holes. No stains.

Very minor stitch loss to the border.

Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.

No colour run. No stretching.

Frame has very slight wear, not detracting, illustrated,

is otherwise sound and in my opinion ready to hang.
