MOVE TO:

Victorian, dated 1831. 7.75ins by 12.25ins. 1831 Fine Woolwork sampler by Jane Brown.
Framed in a modern pine frame with glass. Loose mounted onto a card backing.
The sampler has alphabets A-Z in uppercase and family initials "J.B M.P".
Worked in a variety of stitches.
Dated ''1831".
Strawberry border.
The sampler is worked in fine wool thread throughout.
Pink, green, dark brown, white, purple, red and yellow colour threads used.
A good set of motifs, including flowers,
birds,
fir trees, deer a fruit basket.
A label has been stuck to the back of the sampler having historical details about the maker.
It reads, 'SAMPLER OF JANE BROWN dated 1831. BORN 21 AUGUST 1814. DIED 14 AUGUST 1888. BURIED GRANGE CEMETERY EDINBURGH (NEAR HER SON WILLIAM HUNTER)'
CONDTION: Very Good.
No holes. No stains. Minor stitch losse to the border, illustrated.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticable fading.
No colour run. Slight stretching, worst illustrated.
Frame has very slight wear, not detracting, illustrated,
is otherwise sound and in my opinion ready to hang.
