Victorian Verse & Motif Sampler

Victorian, circa 1860. 8ins by 15.75ins. Victorian Verse & Motif Sampler.

Framed in an old, wooden frame with glass.

Tacked onto a wooden mounting frame and cardboard backing.

Verse reads 'In thy garden Lord below, water me that I may grow, And when all thy grace is, Given then Transplant me into heaven.'.

Divider lines in a number of patterns.

The sampler is worked in cotton-like threads throughout.

Brown, green, light brown, cream and blue colour threads used.

A scattering of motifs, including potted flowering plants, birds, fir trees and flowers.

CONDTION: Good.

No holes. No stains. No stitch losses.

Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.

No colour run. No stretching.

The frame is in very good condition

and the sampler is ready to hang.
