1732 Silkwork Sampler by Elizabeth Turtun

George II, dated 1732. 10.5ins by 7.25ins wide. 1732 Silkwork Sampler by Elizabeth Turtun. Framed in an old, burr maple frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.

No border, divider lines in various patterns.

Colours gold and green.

Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and numbers 1-11.

Signed and dated

'ELIZaBeTh TURTUN 1732'.

Hearts, crowns

and a flower motif.

CONDITION: Good.

One small hole.

A number of stains, and slight uniform age darkening of the ground.

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with only slight fading. No colour run.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
