1928 Silkwork Sampler by NMC

George V, dated 1928. 9.25ins by 7.25ins wide. Framed in a gilt over wood frame with rippled, old glass.

Fixed to a wooden dust cover.

The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Floral border along the top and sides with a rolling waves border along the bottom.

Colours yellow, green, copper, light green, orange, magenta, purple, lilac and black.

Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and numbers 0-9.

Signed with initials 'NMC' and dated 1928.

A finely detailed pictorial scene in the centre including trees, birds, hens, rabbits, ducks and a black cat waiting to pounce,

with flowers and other motifs lower down.

 

CONDITION: Very Good. No holes. A few stain specks around the edges.

 

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
