1843 Woolwork Sampler by Susan Mills

Victorian, dated 1843. 9.75ins by 9ins wide. Framed in a burr maple frame with gilt slip and glass. Fixed to card with chipboard dust cover.

The sampler is worked in wool on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout.

No visible border, divider lines in various patterns.

Colours black and red. Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and lower case with numbers 1-13.

Signed and dated

'Susan Mills . B.Stortford . 1843'.

Bishop's Stortford is a town in Hertfordshire, England.

CONDITION: Good. No holes. No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.

Minor stitch losses to letters of the alphabet, and divider lines, illustrated.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.

Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
