Circa 1850 Silkwork Motifs Sampler

Victorian, circa 1850. 12ins by 13.25ins wide. Professionally framed in an old, possibly original, wood frame with rippled, old glass. Fixed to card with card and brown paper dust cover.

The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout.

No border.

Colours green, blue, pale blue, lime green, light brown, white and black.

No signature or date, but some initials inside floral borders.

Packed with motifs, including houses,

an archer,

fruit basket,

flowers,

parrots

and others.

CONDITION: Good. No holes. One stain, and several specks, illustrated.

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.

Stretching is very slightly uneven.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
