1860 Sampler by Caroline Tricker

Victorian, dated 1860. 11.5ins by 12ins wide. 1860 Sampler by Caroline Tricker. Unframed.

The sampler is worked in cotton on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches.

Meandering strawberry border.

Colours dark green, blue, navy blue, copper, black, pink, burgundy and gold.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-8.

Inscription reads

'Remember now thy creator

in the days of thy youth.'.

Signed and dated

'Caroline Tricker Aged 9 Years 1860'.

A good set of motifs, including fruit trees,

flowers,

fir trees,

dogs

and crowns.

CONDITION: Generally Good. No holes.

A number of small stains.

No stitch losses.

Some colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.

No colour run.
