The sampler is worked in fine wool and silk on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches.

Embroidered border.

Colours red, brown, blue, pale blue, purple, olive green and pink.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case, numbers 1-9, and family initials.

Signed and dated

'This sampler, was done ,by miss J Clark at miss E Hendersons, school Lochwinnoch. in the Year, 1842.'

Lochwinnoch is place in Renfrewshire, Scotland.

Several crown motifs.

CONDITION: Generally Good. No holes.

Uniform age darkening of the ground.

Some stitch losses to the border, divider lines, alphabets, numbers, family initials and crowns.

Some colours are slightly faded but still well defined.

No colour run.
