1843 Silkwork Sampler by Elisabeth Beale
Victorian, dated May 24th 1843. 13.25ins by 13ins wide. 1843 Silkwork Sampler by Elisabeth Beale. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.
Meandering strawberry border.
Colours gold, cream, light blue, navy blue, dark brown, light green and dark green.
Verse reads
'Serve the Lord and he will be a Tender Father
unto the Remember now thy Creater in the
days of thy Youth'.
Signed and dated
'Elisabeth Beale Finished this work May 24th 1843 Aged 12 Years'.
A good set of motifs, including potted flowering plants,
peacocks,
stars,
birds, insects,
fir trees, hearts,
crowns,
fleur d'lys motifs,
flowers and dogs.
CONDITION: Generally Good.
Several holes.
Slight discolouration around the edge.
Minor stitch losses to flowers in the large potted flowering plant motif.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.
No colour run.
Stretching is very slightly uneven.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
