1859 Woolwork Sampler by Jane Clarkson
Victorian, dated 1859. 14.25ins by 11.25ins wide. 1859 Woolwork Sampler by Jane Clarkson. Framed in a modern wood and gilt frame, behind a card mount with glass.

Taped to the mount with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in wool on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.
No border, divider lines in various patterns.
Colours light green, cream, red, green, pink, maroon, peach and black.
Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case, numbers 1-14, and family initials.
Signed and dated
'Jane Clarkson Aged 10 1859'.
A good set of motifs, including fruit baskets, birds,
diamonds,
dog,
hearts,
fir trees
and crowns.
CONDITION: Generally Good. No holes.
A few small stains.
Minor stitch losses to the divider lines, alphabets, family initials and one heart.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
Very slight colour run around the black threads.
Stretching is very slightly uneven.
Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound and ready to hang.
