The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout.
Meandering floral border.
Colours copper, green, light brown, black and cream.
Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-11.
Verse reads
'LOVE God with all your soul and strength,
with all your heart and mind,
And love your neighbour as yourself -
Be faithful, just, and kind
Deal with another as you'd have
Another deal with you;
what you'r unwilling to receive,
Be sure you never do.'.
Signed and dated
'Elizabeth Hardman Aged 9 years 1834'.
A few motifs including potted flowering plants, birds
and a crown.
ONDITION: Generally Good.
Two holes.
Tack holes, some with rust stains, around the edge.
Minor stitch loss to a couple of letters of the alphabets and verse.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. The silks bright and glossy.
No colour run.
