Victorian, dated 1866. 12.75ins high by 10.5ins wide. 1866 Silkwork School Sampler by Letitia Robbins. Framed in an old wood frame with glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in fine silk on linen ground.
Leafy border.
Colours green, navy blue, light brown, gold, pink and cream.
Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-13.
Verse reads
'Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour
Once became a child like me
O that in my whole behaviour
He my pattern still may be'.
Signed and dated
'Letitia Robbins Aged 14 Bradfield School --66'.
A good set of motifs, including potted flowering plants, birds,
flowers,
fruit baskets,
fir trees,
crowns
and butterflies.
CONDITION: Generally good.
A number of holes, some with old repairs.
Some losses to the bottom.
No stains.
No stitch losses other than to the holed areas.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
Colour run around some of the green threads.
Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
