George II, dated 1749. 14.25ins by 8ins wide. 1749 Silkwork Sampler by Mary Lavis.

Framed in a modern wood frame with non-reflection glass.

Loose mounted onto pink linen with card backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

No border, divider lines in various patterns.

Colours green, copper, light blue and cream.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-13.

Verse entitled 'THE LORDS PRAYER' reads

'OUR FATHER WICH ART

IN HEAVEN HALLOWED BE TH

Y NAME THY KINGDOM COME T

HY WILL BE DONE IN EARTH AS

IT IS IN HEAVEN GIVE US THIS D

AY OUR DAILY BREAD AND FOR

CONDITION: Generally good.

Ground is wearing thin in a few places.

Two stains.

Minor stitch losses to letters of the alphabets,

numbers,

divider lines,

verse and signature.

Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.

No colour run.

Unevenly stretched.

Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
