The sampler is worked in cotton on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Simple line border.

Colour is red throughout.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-0.

Signed and dated

'C K Southard August 18. 1899.'.

Single cross motif.

CONDITION: Generally Good.

One pull to the ground at the bottom.

A few pale stains, and uniform age darkening of the ground.

Minor stitch loss to the border at the top,

and the date.

Colour is faded but still well defined.

No colour run.
