The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches.

No border.

Colours light green, blue, gold, pale orange and magenta.

Alphabet A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-17.

Verse reads

'Count what more sweet and

fairer then a flower yet

it blooms faids within an

hour'.

'Remember well the sabbath

day profane it not by idle

play but keep it holy while

you live that GOD may you

all blessing give'.

Signed and dated

'Elisabeth Leaper 1702'.

Single motif.

CONDITION: Generally Good.

Two tiny holes.

Some pulling to the ground in the bottom left corner.

Patchy staining across the top right corner, and a few specks.

Minor stitch losses to a few of the divider lines.

Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.

No colour run.
