1827 Woolwork Sampler by Isabella Park
George IV, dated 1827. 20.75ins by 16.25ins wide. 1827 Woolwork Sampler by Isabella Park. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in fine wool on canvas ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.
Floral border.
Colours red, cream, pale blue, copper, pink, light green, olive green and black.
Alphabets A-X in upper case.
Verse reads
'Weep not for me my parents dear.
I am not dead but sleepeth here.
Untill the time that Christ shall say
Awake my soul and come away.'.
Signed and dated
'Isabella Park wrought this in The 10 year of her age 1827'.
A good set of motifs, including a country house with a garden next to a bridge,
flowers,
crowns,
potted flowering plants
and fruit baskets.
CONDITION: Good.
Two small holes.
A few stains.
No stitch losses.
Some colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.
No colour run.
Stretching is very slightly uneven.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
