Victorian, dated 1846. 8.25ins by 11.75ins wide. Small, unframed 1846 Silkwork Sampler by Elizabeth Salt.

The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.
Simple line border.
Colours green, light green, gold and dark brown.
Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case with numbers 1-13.
Aphorism reads
'Remember now thy Creator in the days
of thy youth. While the evil days come not'.
Signed and dated
'Elizabeth Salt 1846'.

A few motifs including crowns,
dogs, a cross, a goblet, a diamond and flowers.
CONDITION: Good. No holes. Three stains.
Minor stitch losses to the border, one divider line, number 6, lower case letter 'u and the date'.
Two loose threads.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy.
No colour run.
