1739 Silkwork Sampler by Barbara Hogan

George II, dated October 1739. 7.5ins by 8.25ins wide. 1739 Silkwork Sampler by Barbara Hogan. Framed in an old, wood frame with glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout.

No border, divider lines in various patterns.

Colours cream, blue, green, pale blue, white, pink, light green, orange, gold and magenta.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case.

Signed and dated

'Barbara Hogan OCTOBER 1739'.

A few motifs including flowers, hearts, fir trees and crowns.

CONDITION: Generally Good. A few old tack holes visible along the left hand edge.

Slight, patchy uniform age darkening of the ground.

Very minor stitch loss to the signature and one divider line.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in very good condition. Wire and hooks included for hanging.
