George II, dated 1745. 22ins by 7.75ins wide. 1745 Silkwork Band Sampler by Mary Clark. Framed in a modern wood frame with glass.

Loose mounted onto card with a wooden backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.

Simple embroidered border.

Colours magenta, light green and pale blue.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case with numbers 1-8.

A scattering of crosses.

CONDITION: Good. No holes.

One stain in the bottom left corner, and uniform age darkening of the ground.

A few threads beginning to loosen from the lettering in the verse.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.

Unevenly stretched.

Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound and could be hung as is.
