1812 Woolwork Sampler by Elisabeth ????

George III, dated 1812. 17ins by 12ins wide. 1812 Woolwork Sampler by Elisabeth ????. Unframed.

The sampler is worked in wool on canvas ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.

Meandering strawberry border.

Colours magenta, pale blue, black, purple, orange, pink, burgundy and olive green.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case, numbers 1-26 and family initials.

Signed and dated

'ELISABETH ???? 1812'.

A few motifs including a house, flowers,

hearts

and crowns.

CONDITION: Fair. Three holes, and the ground is wearing thin in a few places.

One stain in the top right corner, and a number of stain specks.

Stitch losses to the border, letters of the alphabets, divider lines, family initials, motifs and signature.

Colours are very slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run.
