1800 Silkwork Sampler by Hannah Harrison

George III, dated 1800. 13.75ins by 13.75ins wide. 1800 Silkwork Sampler by Hannah Harrison. Framed in an old, burr maple frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard dust cover.

The sampler is worked in silk on fine linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.

Meandering strawberry border.

Colours gold, olive green, cream, copper, light green, magenta, dark green and pale blue.

Alphabet A-Z in uppercase.

Signed and dated

'Hannah Harrison Aged . 10 . Years . 1800'.

A good set of motifs, including a large rose, butterflies/bees,

flowers,

fruit baskets and dogs.

CONDITION: Good. No holes. A few tack stains that are just visible along the left hand edge.

Some age darkening in the centre and on the alphabet.

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in very good condition.
