Victorian, dated 1842. 12.5ins by 10.5ins wide. 1842 Silkwork Sampler by Elizabeth Jane Keatch. Framed in a cream 'molded composition over wood' frame with glass.

Loose mounted over linen with a wooden backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.
Meandering line border.
Colour is green throughout.
Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and lower case with numbers 1-8.
Signed and dated
'Elizabeth Jane Keatch 1842'.
CONDITION: Generally Fair. A number of holes/repairs.
Slight patchy staining along the fold lines.
No stitch losses other than to the holed areas.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run.
Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame showing slight wear with a chip in one corner, otherwise sound and ready to hang.
