Victorian, dated 1871. 7.75ins by 12ins. 1871 Woolwork Sampler by M. Staines.
Unframed with no glass. Stitched onto linen backing.
The sampler has alphabets A-Z in uppercase and lower case with numbers 1-10.
Signed and dated "M.Staines Setch School".
Simple line border. The sampler is worked in wool threads throughout.
Red, cream, green, purple, orange, blue and yellow colour threads used.
A set of typical sampler motifs, including potted flowering plants, flowers,
fruit baskets and stars.
CONDTION: Very Good.
No holes. No stains. Very minor stitch loss to letters of the alphabets.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. No stretching.
