1836 woolwork motif Sampler Emily Gething
William IV, dated 1836. 12ins by 13.75ins. Mounted into a modern, maple veneer frame with gold borders. Glass cover. Appears to be loose mounted onto a card backing, held in place with a slip.
Alphabet A-Z in uppercase, algerian eye and numbers 1-5.
Signed and dated 'Emily Gething her work 1836'.
Meandering strawberry border.
Stitched in cotton-like thread throughout.
Red, brown, purple, pink, cyan, green and orange colours.
Motifs of birds, flowers and a fruit tree.
CONDITION: One tiny hole, illustrated.
A slight stain across the middle, illustrated (see large pic of upper half above)
Stitch loss to letters in the alphabet, illustrated.
Colours are good and strong. No colour run. The modern frame is in very good condition.
