Victorian, dated 1886. 12ins by 17ins. 1886 Woolwork Pictoral Sampler by E.Scott.
Framed in an old, possibly original, wooden frame with rippled, old glass.
Tacked onto a wooden mounting frame and paper backing.
Signed and dated "E.Scott 1886".
The sampler is worked in wool threads throughout.
Blue, cream, red, green, light brown, dark brown, pink, yellow and purple colour threads used.
The scene depicts two young lovers, carrying a lamb, sheltering under a banana leaf.
CONDTION: Very Good.
No holes. No stains. No stitch losses.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.
No colour run. No stretching.
Frame has very slight wear, not detracting, illustrated,
is otherwise sound and in my opinion ready to hang.
