MOVE TO:
Victorian sampler by Elizabeth Paterson
Victorian. 11.75ins by 15.5ins. Mounted into an old wooden frame with glass. Stitched onto a blue linen backing, easily removed if required.
Alphabets A-Z in uppercase, numbers 1-18 and a-z in lowercase. A phrase 'Rock of Ages Cleft for me'.
Signed at the bottom, 'Elizabeth Paterson'.
Simple border, divider lines in a number of patterns.
Stitched in wool throughout. Red, yellow, pink, pale blue and olive colours.
Motif of a large house, trees, birds,
crowns, dogs
and flowers.
CONDITION: Good. No holes, no stains, no stitch losses. Colours are a little faded, but still good and strong. No colour run and no stretching. The frame has a lot of wear, but is structurally sound.
