1833 Floral Sampler by Catherine Smith. William IV, dated 1833. 12ins by 16.25. Unframed with no glass. Stitched onto linen backing.
The sampler is worked in wool threads throughout. Pink, green, dark brown, purple, red and magenta colour threads used. A good set of motifs of flowers and a fruit basket
Signed and dated "Catherine Smith Aged 12. August 31 1833". Meandering, floral border.
CONDTION: Good. No holes. Uniform yellowing of the backing canvas. No stitch losses. Colours are all very good and strong with no noticable fading. No colour run. Minor stretching.
