MOVE TO:
1853 Italian alphabets band sampler
Victorian, dated 1853. 12.75ins by 21ins. Mounted into a gold painted wooden frame with glass. Mounted onto a cardboard backing, possibly with glue.
Alphabets in a number of styles and stitches. Numbers 1-10.
Signed 'ALFONSINA MARIOTTINO' and dated 'DATA 12 LUGLIO 1853'.
Zig zag border and divider lines in a number of patterns and stitches.
Fine silk threads used throughout.
Green and brown colours. A cross motif in the top left hand corner.
CONDITION: No holes. Some patchy light stains throughout, not highly visible, illustrated.
No stitch losses. Colours are good and strong. No colour run. No stretching. The frame is in good condition and the sampler is ready to hang.
