Victorian, dated 1878. 12.5ins by 11.75ins wide. 1878 Alphabet Sampler by Jenny Jacoby. Unframed.

The sampler is worked in cotton on canvas ground, in cross stitch and straight stitch.

Simple embroidered border.

Colours red, white, yellow and blue.

Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and lower case.

Signed and dated

'Jenny Jacoby 1878'.

A few star like motifs

 

and a diamond.

CONDITION: Good. No holes. A number of stain specks, and slight staining along the fold lines.

 

 

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.
