1831 Miniature Silkwork Sampler by E H Preston

William IV, dated 1831. 8.5ins by 5.5ins wide. Professionally framed in a 'plastic over wood' frame with glass.

Fixed to card with wood dust cover.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.

Simple line border.

Colour is light green throughout. Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and numbers 1-0.

Signed and dated

'E H Preston. 1831'.

A few diamond motifs.

CONDITION: Good. One small hole, illustrated.

No stains. No stitch losses. Colour is good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run.

Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame showing some wear and is weak in one of the corners, worst illustrated, but still sturdy enough to hang.
