1843 Sampler by Mary Jane Booth

Victorian, dated 1843. 10.5ins by 7.5ins wide. Framed in a 'plastic over wood' frame with glass.

Fixed to card with chipboard dust cover.

The sampler is worked in cotton on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Simple line border.

Colours blue, cream and green. Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and lower case with numbers 1-8.

Signed and dated

'Mary Jane Booth . Wainsleet St Marys . 1843'.

CONDITION: Good. No holes. A few pale patchy stains and specks, illustrated.

No stitch losses. Loose piece of red thread behind glass, illustrated.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.

Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame showing very slight wear, illustrated, otherwise sound and ready to hang.
