1846 Sampler by Anna Banham
Victorian, dated 1846. 13ins by 11.75ins wide. Unframed.

The sampler is worked in cotton on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.


Zig zag border.

Colour is light brown throughout.
Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and lower case with numbers 1-16.
Aphorism reads
'Remember thy Creator in the days of thy
youth'.

Signed and dated
'Anna Banham Bardwell School aged 15 Years April 7 1846'.

Diamond and cross motif.


CONDITION: Good. No holes. A number of patchy stains and specks, illustrated.




No stitch losses.
Colour is all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.
