1733 Silkwork Sampler by Ann Wilson
George II, dated 1733. 12.25ins by 8.25ins wide. Unframed.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.


No border.
Colours maroon, blue, green, gold, white, magenta, light blue and brown. Alphabets A-Z in uppercase and lower case with numbers 1-21.
Verse reads

CONDITION: Generally Fair. A number of holes, worst illustrated.




No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.
Stitch losses to letters of the alphabets, numbers, divider lines, verses and signature, illustrated.








Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run.
