Staffordshire Hen and Chicks Tureen and Cover

Victorian, circa 1860. 6.7ins high, 4.7ins wide, 6.7ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery tureen with cover which features a hen with her seven chicks.

One of the chicks is perched on her back, the others peep out from underneath her, resting directly on the ground, no base.

Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Hen: Good. No restoration. Some small flakes to tail feathers and wattle.

A few paint losses to eyes and beak.

Nest: Good. No restoration. Some small flakes to wings and rim.

A few paint losses to chicks.
