Pair Thomas Sergent Palissy Majolica Mythological Ewers

Circa 1880. Tallest is 16.5ins high, 8.1ins wide, 6.1ins depth. Pair of Thomas Sergent Majolica ewers with a mythological theme which feature faun handles,

mermaid bases, hippocamp, dolphins and putti.

Colouration: green, blue, cream, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Thomas Sergent pottery.


CONDITION: Ewer 1: Good. No restoration.

Some small flakes to exterior.

Ewer 2: Generally good.

Some small flakes to exterior.

Slight wear to the top of the base.

KILN EFFECTS: tiny glaze pops to the interior of spout.

RESTORATION. Head and arm reglued, joins retouched, to putti on handle.

Stabilised and retouched crack to satyr's neck and shoulder.

Remodelled front legs to hippocamp.
