Sailor's Woolwork Picture of a Ship, 'Homeward bound'

Victorian, circa 1870. 18.5ins high by 23.5ins wide. Large Sailor's Woolwork Embroidery Picture of a Ship returning to British shores,

entitled, 'Homeward Bound'.

Framed in a gilt over wood frame, with rippled, dimpled, old glass.

Tacked to a wood stretcher frame with brown paper backing.

Picture has a central panel depicting a three masted navy ship at sea, surrounded by a crown and flags.

Red, white and blue twisted border.

Initails H. E. to the corners.

CONDITION: Good.

No holes.

No stains.

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.

Very slight colour run around a couple of the red tassles.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame showing wear and chips, but structurally sound.
