George III, circa 1800. 8ins high by 12.5ins wide. Georgian Silkwork Rural Scene Embroidery.
Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. Fixed to card backing. Reverse is backed with acid free card.
The embroidery is finely worked in silks, on a silk ground, in a variety of stitches.
Colours gold, cream, blue, red, light brown, pink, copper and greens. Picture depicts a rural scene with people, trees, cattle and a dog in the foreground and a church can be seen in the distance.
CONDITION: Good. No holes. No stains. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.
Threads sagging a little in patches in the sky.
Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
