Victorian, circa 1860. 13.8ins high, 16.1ins wide, 11.8ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery egg tureen and cover which features a hen sitting with her eggs,
resting on a basketweave oval base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Maker's marks painted to the underside.
CONDITION: Hen: Generally good.
Some paint losses to the ground around the rim.
RESTORATION. A number of retouched paint losses to brown and black feathers.
Also, retouched flaking to head, beak, pupils and ground.
Nest: Generally good.
Some wear to exterior.
RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched star crack to interior.
Star crack still visible to the exterior on the underside.
Stabilised and retouched hairlines to the interior, on the side. Not present to the outside.
Retouched wear to rim.
Filled chips to flange.
