Small Pr Staffordshire Disraeli Spaniels

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 4.3ins high, 3.1ins wide, 1.8ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures

which feature an unusually small version of these spaniels with Disraeli curls to head

(The curls represent Disraeli's, elected Prime Minister 1868 and Queen Victoria’s favourite), seated on an oblong base.

Black and white version.

Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Vent holes to reverse and underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Fair.

Tight hairline to spaniel's right front leg.

Some staining.

Rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse.

RESTORATION: Much of the base oversprayed. Muzzle remodelled and face repainted.

Retouched paint losses.

Stabilised and retouched crack to back of the dog.

Left facing: Fair.

Small flake to tail and ear, two small flakes to base and a few tiny flakes to base rim.

Rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze.

RESTORATION: Much of the base oversprayed. Filled chip to muzzle and face overpainted.

Stabilised and retouched hairline to front leg.
