Pair Staffordshire Spaniel Sash Window Stops

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 4.7ins high, 4.7ins wide, 4.9ins depth.

Pair of Staffordshire Pottery sash window stops which feature a spaniel's head, resting directly on the ground, no base.

White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment.

Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Vent holes are present.

Condition

CONDITION: Figure 1: Good.

Some small flakes to the lower base edge.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to rim at reverse.

Retouched flake to reverse of right ear.

Retouching to nose.

Figure 2: Good.

Bruise to lower base edge on reverse.

A few paint losses to muzzle and nose.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack to the reverse.

Filled chip to top of head.
