Pair Staffordshire pottery children, dog & snake figures

Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a naked child, a dog and a snake, seated on an oblong base.

Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Vent hole to the reverse.

Book reference ,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 3, by A.& N. Harding, page 220, figure a2296/a2297.

Condition

Right facing: Good. A few paint losses to dog's markings and boy's hair.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: minor kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front and reverse.

RESTORATION: Remodelled snake's head.

Filled chips to base.

Left facing: Good. No restoration. Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: small firing hole to the reverse;

slight staining to the reverse.
